Drupal has a massive collection of "contributed modules" created by users within our community. It is ideal to create "simple tests" throughout module code to help with a variety of important aspects including scalability. Find any Drupal 7 contrib module, find a missing simple test, write the test, submit the test as a patch to module's issue queue, and link to patch in Melange for mentor to review.
