Howto: How to get a graphical environment on NetBSD
The NetBSD Project
Status: Closed
Time to complete: 72 hrs
Mentors: Aleksej Saushev, Julian Coleman, Julian Fagir
NetBSD is a very sleek operating system, delivering an X server (and the mandatory twm), but nothing else. As most people don't like twm, they install another graphical environment.
But how do you do so?
This task is about creating a howto to install graphical environments after the installation. You should provide screenshots or screendumps (when still being on the console) and describe which configuration files have to be modified, which packages should be installed, which are there after the instalation and which can be added afterwards (special editors, etc.), and so on.
The package light-desktop should be stressed in this documentation.

I have submitted a PDF containing all the instructions and the required information for Light-Desktop and gnome. I tried to include as much information as I could and have written the solutions of all the problems I faced during installtion.
I am new to NetBSD, so it might happen that a command is wrong or there is some typing mistake. Please inform me if you want anything more.
I can submit the file in the docx or odt or rtf format also. Submitting the file in txt won't be possible as this contains some images.
Thank you!

Wow, this looks really like a professional article, and its content is perfect. :-)
But how did you create the PDF? Please provide the source of it, or even convert the document to Markdown and then upload it to the NetBSD GCi wiki. But you don't have a wiki account, do you?
One of the mentors has sent this task back for more work. Talk to the mentor(s) assigned to this task to satisfy the requirements needed to complete this task, submit your work again and mark the task as complete once you re-submit your work.
I can convert it to markdown. I need a wiki account. My email address is born2bgeeky@gmail.com
Thank you :)
I just added a user account for you. You can reach the wiki at http://www.komkon2.de/nbwiki/
You don't have to learn much about Markdown, just the basics, and then commit that task to the wiki (just create a page with a name you choose).
You can see the Markdown basics here: http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/basics
I have added the information to the wiki. Here is the link to the page: http://www.komkon2.de/nbwiki/doku.php?id=light-desktop:light-desktop-usage
Thank you :)
