Test new version of Globe Web-editor Haiku
Status: Closed Time to complete: 72 hrs Mentors: Barrett, Richie Nyhus Tags: Testing

You will need to have Haiku OS installed and running in a VM or on your computer. Then download install Globe Web-editor found on Haiku ports. Before downloading the fix found on the same page.

Then test to see if you can find any bugs in the software. Try to act like a normal user and do the things that they would do with the software. Do all the buttons do what they are expected to do? Are any of text partially obscured? Does the software have a modern icon or does it have an old 90s style BeOS icon?

You will need to keep a journal of what you tested and any bugs that you found.

Then upload your results here and on the ticket on Haiku-Ports to finish.

This task has been assigned to Mitsuhide. You have 72 hours to complete this task, good luck!

Mitsuhide on December 8 2012 17:26 UTC Version

I have only found Globe Webeditor V0.4.0 which is from 21.10.2004. That doesn't look new but it says it's final version.

This is what I have from the links in the task description:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/12578336/globe_v040.pkg

I tried to use this and see how it works so after running Haiku on a VM I installed the package but when I try to run the programm I get

"The application /boot/apps/Gloge/Globe has encountered an error which prevents it from continuing. Haiku will terminate the application and clean up."

Using latest Haiku R1/alpha 4.

What should I do?

Mitsuhide on December 8 2012 17:29 UTC Debug

P.S.

In debug in fails with 0x009fb3d8 in istream::get() from /boot/system/lib/libstdc++.r4.so

Richie Nyhus on December 9 2012 03:27 UTC Version

Yeah, test "fix" of globe webeditor would more apt than "new version".

So did you apply the fix?
