Create a NetBSD poster The NetBSD Project
Status: Closed Time to complete: 72 hrs Mentors: Julian Coleman, Julian Fagir Tags: graphics

NetBSD advocacy material is used on fairs where NetBSD usually has its own booth. To make the presentation more attractive, a nice poster (in format A0) would be nice.

This task can be fulfilled multiple times. You can either create different posters advocating different aspects of NetBSD, or just create graphical posters.

Some existing posters and flyers are at http://www.uk.netbsd.org/gallery/advocacy/

HD on November 28 2012 00:15 UTC Question

Is it ok if I make the poster listing/describing some of the features of NetBSD, as listed on http://www.netbsd.org/about/features.html ? Thanks.

Julian Fagir on November 28 2012 01:17 UTC Better not the generic features

Hi,

the generic features are not that good. I know the text on the website is somewhat outdated.

Maybe you could make a poster outlining the important new features of NetBSD 6.0, this would really be nice: http://www.netbsd.org/releases/formal-6/NetBSD-6.0.html

I.e. not listing all the drivers changed, but maybe "over xx new supported devices" (if you cannot research this from this website, just leave it empty and we fill it).

Please create the poster in a format where we can also modify it, i.e. give us the source files of the editing program you use.

please review my more recent file submission, thanks.

Julian Fagir on November 28 2012 11:25 UTC Two pages?

Hi,

when opening the poster, OpenOffice 3 shows the poster on two pages. It should rather fit on one page. Please put everything on one page.

Julian Fagir on November 30 2012 00:18 UTC Still two pages

Hm, the poster is still on two pages.

Maybe it is just my OpenOffice (though I doubt that), could you then please upload the poster as a PDF (File->Export as PDF)?

Regards, Julian

HD on November 30 2012 00:23 UTC Weird

That's weird, because I made sure it was 1 page before I submitted it, and when I download my submission, it's also one page.

HD on November 30 2012 00:25 UTC submission

Alright, I've uploaded the PDF.

Julian Fagir on November 30 2012 00:34 UTC Strange...

Hmmm, then maybe just my OpenOffice is wrong.

Anyway, with another computer this file maybe opens correctly. And the PDF is sufficient anyway.

Thank you for your work!
