Description of task
The FreeBSD Project maintains a link on its webpage to external sites where commercial vendors offer services around FreeBSD: http://www.FreeBSD.org/commercial/commercial.html Some of these sites might not be available anymore, have moved or may contain new information no longer related to FreeBSD. In order to keep that web page up to date, the objective of this task is to go through all the links and check whether the vendors still exist and still offer the services they advertise as described.
This task requires you to check all links within the "Software" section.
Please obtain a copy of the page source (see the "Task requires" section below). For each link, verify whether the link is still valid. If you find that a homepage has moved to a new location, update the broken links accordingly. If the information the link pointed to does not exist anymore (i.e. vendor is out of business) and an alternative site can not be found, if it has been replaced by a new site (like a page for linkfarming), or if the company no longer appears to offer the services mentioned, make a list of these and discuss with your mentor whether just the link or the whole vendor information should be removed.
Please read http://wiki.FreeBSD.org/GoogleCodeIn/GettingStarted before accepting this task, as it contains further details on what this task consists of, as well as providing useful information on how to obtain the page source and how to proceed with the task.
I would like to work on this task.
This task has been assigned to Thomas Turney. You have 72 hours to complete this task, good luck!
Thanks for claiming this task.
The page source referred to can be obtained by checking out the FreeBSD www repository, which is already checked out on the Virtual Machine image should that be useful for you, or alternatively can be found at http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/~checkout~/www/share/sgml/commercial.software.xml?rev=1.40;content-type=text%2Fplain if that is easier for you.
The work on this task is ready to be reviewed.
I marked the software and changes made previously, so it was just a matter of going through line by line of the xml and performing the changes. I produced a diff as well (although I'm not very familiar with the tool) and gave off the output comparing the file you sent me with mine containing the alterations. If I did anything wrong, please tell me.
Sorry for the long wait!
Congratulations, this task has been completed successfully.
This work looks excellent, thank you!
