Description of task
The FreeBSD project maintains a link on it's webpage to external sites where commercial vendors offer services around FreeBSD: http://www.freebsd.org/commercial/commercial.html Some of these sites might not be available anymore, have moved or may contain new information not related to FreeBSD anymore. In order to keep that web page up to date, the objective of this task is to go through all the links and check whether the vendors still exist and still offer the services they advertise as described. Broken links should be reported to your mentor. If you find that their homepage has moved to a new location, update the broken links accordingly. If the information the link pointed to does not exist anymore (i.e. vendor is out of business) or has been replaced by a new site (like a page for linkfarming), discuss with your mentor whether just the link or the whole vendor information should be removed.
Task requires:
A FreeBSD system (in a VirtualBox Virtual Machine) installed on your computer.
Knowledge of the documentation guidelines for the FreeBSD project: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/fdp-primer/

I would like to work on this task.
This task has been assigned to Thomas Turney. You have 72 hours to complete this task, good luck!
The deadline of the task has been extended with 2 days and 0 hours.
Thomas has emailed me his work so far, and it is clear that this task is far more time consuming than originally estimated. As a result, I've extended the deadline by two days, and may need to extend it further.
The deadline of the task has been extended with 1 days and 0 hours.
I actually intended to double the time allocated for this task, which I've now done.
Melange has detected that the initial deadline has passed and it has set the task status to ActionNeeded. The student has 24 hours to submit the work before the task is reopened and sent back to the pool for other students to claim.
The deadline of the task has been extended with 1 days and 0 hours.
The claim on this task has been removed, someone else can claim it now.
I was unable to achieve all of the work in time, but I did have some stored. Please contact Gavin if you have any questions, all of my work is through him. Good luck to the next student!

Hi,
Just so that you know, the last student who attempted this task discovered that the task was far larger than we had estimated. I was hoping to get a chance to update the task before somebody else took it up, but didn't get a chance to do so.
Please just focus on one of the following sections: Hardware, ISP, or Consulting. Successfully completing one of these is enough to complete this task.
Thanks,
Gavin
Also, I don't know how much experience you have with FreeeBSD, but the page at http://wiki.freebsd.org/GoogleCodeIn/GettingStarted should help you to get started. Feel free to ask any questions if you need any more information, I'll be updating that page more in the very near future too.
Hi Gavin,
Hello Gavin,
I sent you a mesage yesterday, and have not heard back how you would like me to submit to you the links that are dead. Please let me know, and I will send the list over.
Thanks,
Garrett
Hello
Apologies, Melange seems to have failed to notify me of y0our previous enquiry, so I hadn't realised that you had asked a question.
Ideally, we would request that you submit your changes as a diff against the existing source file. However, as the task doesn't really make this clear (indeed it suggests just sending me a list of broken links), I'm happy to receive this in that format.
Please provide the list in the same order as the web site lists it, identifying which links are now dead and should be removed, which links need changing/updating (for example where companies have changed URLs), and which companies no longer apear to offer the services mentioned any more.
Which section did you choose to work on?
Thanks,
Gavin
Gavin,
Can you extend the deadline for 24 hours?
Thanks
Garrett

Garrett,
Per your request I have extended a deadline for this task.

The work on this task is ready to be reviewed.
Hello,
I submitted the errors as both a word file, and PDF. If it looks good can I claim the other two areas, consulting and ISP as well? Thanks for your help.
Garrett Fernandez
Melange has detected that the deadline has passed and no more work can be submitted. The submitted work should be reviewed.
Hello Gavin,
Does the work look okay?
Thanks,
Garrett
Congratulations, this task has been completed successfully.
I've just had a look through your work, and it appears that this task has been completed successfully. Thanks for your work!
