The task is to create a 30-60 second video to promote OI File Manager. The video shall enhance the experience for the OI File Manager Market description. You have all artistic freedom in creating the video. The video can be based on real life situations in which the application is used on a real Android device (e.g. use file manager to manage photos). The video can also be based on emulator screencasts. It can either showcase the great diversity of features, or tell a captivating story.
Your solution should be a link to your YouTube video. The video format should be high-resolution (1280x720, YouTube HD Video). All third party content used (images, background music, sound effects, ...) must be available by an open license without fees (freeware or creative commons license). The origin of contents must be mentioned in the description of the video and/or in the credits.
IMPORTANT: Before you start, get early in touch with OpenIntents developers to discuss your concept. Optionally you may send early drafts of your concept or previous video work. If you do not present your concept at an early stage, OpenIntents reserves the right not to accept your final video entry.
- Difficulty: medium
- Time limit: 21 days
- Optional prerequisites: Download the Android SDK (instructions)
- Requirements for completed entry:
- IMPORTANT: Discuss your concept idea early with OpenIntents. OpenIntents reserves the right to refuse an entry if the concept has not been discussed previously.
- Send a link to a 30-60 second YouTube video.
- The video resolution must be high quality (1280x720, YouTube HD Video).
- All screencasts must be based on the latest Android SDK emulator.
- All media content used (images, music, sound effects) must be freely available (freeware or creative commons license).
- All content used must be mentioned in the video description and/or in the credits.

The claim on this task has been removed, someone else can claim it now.
Hello. Sorry for the delay, but we are not online 24 hours a day, unfortunately. The best way to contact us and to discuss your video is through our developer forum: http://groups.google.com/group/openintents. Chances are highest that you will receive a timely reply there.
I would like to work on this task.
For my idea i'm thinking of doing a relatively humurous/overly dramatic video in which the main character forgot their homework at home but was able to pull it up on their phone and access it and turn it in by using OI File Manager. To keep the video entertaining, it is going to focus more on the journey rather than all of the features -- however it would still showcase the app as being the key to the main character's evenual A+ on the project. Would this be an acceptable idea for a video or would you like something less entertaining and more informative?
This sounds like a great idea. I'm looking forward to seeing the video :-)
This task has been assigned to Billy. You have 504 hours to complete this task, good luck!
The work on this task is ready to be reviewed.
Really nice :-)
Would it be difficult to replace the final graphics by something more similar to the OI File Manager appearance in Android Market?
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.openintents.filemanager
The graphics are available here:
http://code.google.com/p/openintents/source/browse/#svn%2Ftrunk%2Ffilemanager%2Fpromotion%2Fmarket
Also, please add a YouTube annotation with a link directly to the Market page of OI File Manager, if that's possible.
I replaced the ending logo with the one from the Android market and added an annotation showing the url of the app. Unfortunately YouTube will only let me hyperlink to another video (or other YouTube-related thing) so I also inluded the hyperlink in the description.
Congratulations, this task has been completed successfully.
Thanks for your great work. The video is linked on our promotion page and will be featured on Android's market page for OI File Manager shortly.
