Lynne,
Would you be willing to explain me why did you remove the
claim for this task?
I saw 4 people claiming/unclaiming the task and I want to
understand what's the problem.
Wojciech
Well Mr. Koszek the problem for me is that I am not running a FreeBSD OS but windows 7. I guess I jumped the gun and claimed this task quickly before actually reading the requirements. Sorry if I bothered you with claiming the task.
Ok, thanks. Fair enough. I just wanted to know if we have a problem with Google Melange portal. Thanks.
Hey there, how long of an article would you be looking for here?
I would like to work on this task.
The article should be based on http://wiki.freebsd.org/AppleMacbook, as long as it covers everything mentioned there.

I've a problem after installing freebsd (in vmwar workstation) , i really did not understand how to enter to the desktop .
I would like to work on this task.
Hi there, Mr. Koszek, can you please let me in on this - Should we use sources other than the one you have specified in the task, or must we stick to the article on the web page specified?
Once again, when I'm done with my article, how do I upload it, because I don't see any way to upload it as of now.....
Please advise on this.
Thank you!
This task has been assigned to Utkarsh Pant. You have 72 hours to complete this task, good luck!
Hi Utkarsh,
You'll need to create an article, but I'm happy to deal with the version control aspect if you send me a copy of the source via email (crees@FreeBSD.org). Be sure to copy in gjb@ and jceel@ too.
You could use http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/articles/contributing/article.sgml?rev=1.511 as a starting point.
You're welcome to use any sources you like, but they must be correct and the actions must be repeatable!
Chris
Be sure to cite any sources you use outside of the wiki page. We need to be careful of copyright issues.
The work on this task is ready to be reviewed.
I have done a fresh article here, and have included a last bit about contributing to FreeBSD, based on the link Chris posted. Please let me know if I was wrong in what I percieved I had to do, and do let me know. Thank you, once again, for all the help.
Anyway, please go through my article, and please let me know if I need to add anything more, or change the matter of the article. Also, I haven't used any outside sources, other than the one originally given (The wiki page), so I don't think there should be problems or issues with copyright?
Regards,
Utkarsh

The deadline of the task has been extended with 2 days and 0 hours.
Hi Utkarsh,
Thanks for your email, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you; I still don't seem to be receiving updates from melange. Since this isn't your fault, I've extended the deadline by 48 hours.
You've certainly made a nice looking article, however I think you may have misunderstood the task description; the requirement was for a Docbook style article, as linked to above, that we can include with the FreeBSD documentation.
If you'd like some extra help, please hop into #freebsd-soc on EFNet and people are there to give pointers; keep showing us what you're doing so you don't spend a lot of time going down the wrong avenue....
Good luck,
Chris
Hi Utkarsh,
In addition to the feedback Chris provided, I have a few comments regarding documentation style.
We try to avoid "you" and "your" in FreeBSD documentation as much as possible. For example:
"If your wireless network hangs or seems to hang,"
would be better suited for FreeBSD documentation if stated as:
"If the wireless network seems to hang..."
Otherwise, nice work on this.
Chris has already extended the deadline, but if you need more time, please let us know.
Thanks!
Glen
Hi Glen,
Thank you for your feedback, and I'll see to it that I put in all of the advise all of you have given me! I'll upload the link pretty soon, so that you can take a look at my re-done work, and let me know if I go wrong once again.
Thanks once again!
Utkarsh
Hi glen,
Once again, I'll surely let you know if I need any extensions in time, (you know, 9th grade is tough, and there's a LOT of school work :D )
Thank you,
Utkarsh

Hi Utkarsh,
No problem - the deadline had passed, but was automatically extended when I changed the state of this.
Thanks for working on this!

Hi Glen, Chris,
I just finished up with the task, but was seconds late in putting up the ink, as my net went down, but can you approve my request for taking up the task, and then see the re-done work? Really sorry for the delay in getting the work done, as my tests were on.
Sorry, and thanks,
Utkarsh

The work on this task is ready to be reviewed.
Hi Utkarsh,
Overall, the aritcle looks fine. Just a few comments.
1.) When referencing manual pages, we should use the manual page macro, rather than, for example, 'fdisk(8)' directly in the document. The manual page macro is in the format: '&man.MANUAL.SECTION;', where 'MANUAL' is replaced by the name of the manual page, and 'SECTION' is replaced by the section in which the 'MANUAL' appears. So, using fdisk(8) as an example, the proper macro would be: &man.fdisk.8; .
2.) When referencing 'FreeBSD', the '&os;' macro should be used, similar to the above example. (Note that there are some exceptions to this, for example '&os;' does not work as expected when used in URLs.)
3.) The '<para>' sections are too long, and can likely be broken down into different '<sectN>' sections. But this is easy enough to fix if you don't/can't do it.
There are some other, very minor, things througout the document that need to be addressed before it can be included in the handbook. Nothing major.
Nice work.
Can you please save the resulting article as a plain-text file, and upload it here so we have a hard-copy available?
Regards,
Glen

Chris
Hi Chris,
I accidentally closed up the upload button by marking the task as complete, but I have the text file ready to upload, so what should I do? Should I email it to you, or could you re-open the upload button so I can upload it?
Thanks,
Utkarsh

I gave you another three hours to upload the work (I hope this works with your time zone). If you still are not able to upload it I guess email would work.
Hi Eitan,
Thanks for extending the deadline! I have uploaded the file up there.
Thanks,
Utkarsh
